We are pleased to have been awarded a restoration project at 131 High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire, a two-storey Grade II listed building owned by Sanctuary Housing. This project will involve completing crucial external works to address damp issues and ensure the continued preservation of this historic building.

The property, which houses a Specsavers store on its ground floor and residential accommodation above, requires a comprehensive approach to remedy damp affecting its exterior. Our primary task will be to strip back the existing plaster and replace the external façade with lime rendering, allowing the building to breathe while providing excellent protection against moisture. Additional works include internal decoration of the communal areas.

Access presents a key challenge on this project due to the building’s timber-frame canopy, which runs the full width of the structure. A carefully designed scaffold, specifically created to protect this non-loadbearing feature, will be required to provide safe access to all areas of the building. This design will comply with local conservation officer requirements, as well as those outlined by the client’s consultants, Kendall Kingscott.

The external works are set to commence later this month, with the project expected to be completed within 7 to 8 weeks.
