We are pleased to confirm the award of a £150k contract for a 12-week programme to deliver essential structural and damp-proofing works at 15–16 Broad Street, Bath, on behalf of Bath & North East Somerset Council, secured through competitive tender.

The Grade II listed building, currently home to specialist tile retailer Mandarin Stone, has experienced long-standing structural issues and water ingress, worsened by rainwater leaking from the adjacent car park into the basement.

To address these concerns, we will install a new two-piece, 5-metre galvanised structural steel beam in place of three smaller, weakened beams to reinforce the building’s structural stability. The basement will undergo full tanking using a specialist membrane to eliminate damp problems and protect the space long-term, complete with a new screed floor. Internal works include the careful removal and reinstatement of showroom fixtures, fire-stopping service penetrations, installation of perimeter drainage, drylining of walls, and ceiling renewal.

The final stage will include full redecoration, new lighting and electrical systems, and the installation of electric skirting heating to improve comfort and functionality within the space. All works will be carried out within a live commercial setting, requiring close coordination to minimise disruption to the tenant while preserving the historic character of the listed property.
