We know that preserving heritage buildings depends on the skills of the people who work on them. That's why we're welcoming two new apprentices to our team this September.

Working with Bath College and SGS College, we've secured two three-year apprenticeship places for a Carpenter and a Decorator, giving them the opportunity to learn their trade while gaining valuable hands-on experience on live projects.

As part of our team, they'll help improve and maintain heritage and listed properties across Bath & North East Somerset Council's estate. Working on these buildings is a fantastic opportunity to learn, as every project requires care, attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Supported by our experienced tradespeople, they'll develop the practical skills and confidence needed to build successful careers in construction.

Taking on apprentices is one of the ways we invest in the future. It gives local people the opportunity to learn a trade while ensuring the skills and experience of our team are passed on to the next generation. They'll begin their studies at Bath College, combining classroom learning with practical experience on site throughout their three-year training programme.

Creating opportunities like these is an important part of our commitment to the communities we work in. By helping young people develop rewarding careers while learning traditional trade skills, we're supporting the long-term care of Bath and North East Somerset's historic buildings for generations to come.
