We are pleased to confirm the successful completion of a £70,000 external refurbishment project at Milbrook House, a Grade II listed building in Wroughton, Swindon. This 4-month project, commissioned by Sanctuary Housing, involved restoring and modernising two semi-detached properties while preserving their historical significance.

The refurbishment included extensive repairs to the building’s modern Pantile clay roof, where our team carefully removed and repointed both the roof hips and chimney stack to improve their durability. Alongside the roofing work, the external stonework was repointed to restore the original character of the building’s facade, ensuring it retains its historic charm for years to come. Once the repairs were complete, the stonework was given a fresh coat of paint, providing a durable and visually appealing finish that complements the building’s original architecture.

A key element of the project was the restoration of the traditional wooden casement windows, an essential feature of the listed building. We completed delicate repairs, restoring the windows to their former glory. To improve the property’s energy efficiency and comfort without compromising its heritage value, secondary glazing and draft-proofing were added. In addition, new hinges and catches were fitted to ensure that the windows function effectively while maintaining their period aesthetic.

This refurbishment highlights our expertise in working on listed buildings, where preserving historical integrity is paramount.
